Spoiler Summary/Synopsis:

Tsukasa watches a video where a YouTube couple announce their divorce. She discusses divorce with Kaname, who feels Tsukasa and Nasa won’t get divorced. After all, they are all over each other every night. Tsukasa denies making nightly, “romantic” noises. Aya comes in and warns Tsukasa she can’t be too careful. After all, Nasa’s friends are all women, and Ginga-kun is an apparent relative.

Aya recounts how Nasa’s was popular, yet so scary, girls wouldn’t approach him. Tsukasa wonders what caused Nasa to be this way. Kaname recalls Nasa telling her a story from when he was a little boy. Apparently, some girl his age called him weird for his name.

Nasa wakes from a memory dream about the incident with the girl, Himari-chan. That night, Tsukasa asks if Nasa liked Himari. Nasa replies that they were too young for those kinds of feelings. However, they were friends, at least until that incident. Nevertheless, Tsukasa is the first girl Nasa ever loved. Tsukasa tells Nasa the same, and the two enter the futon for quality time.

Elsewhere, someone calls out to the teenage Himari.

Thoughts/Review:

Not going to lie, Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 225 kinda lost me at the end of the chapter. Even though Viz trashes the manga with their poor adaptation, I still like the series. However, the introduction of this Himari character is not something I’m jazzed about. That’s assuming she wasn’t foreshadowed before, which I don’t recall happening.

Except it DID happen, in the first chapter. (Thanks Krono!) She was just a nameless girl who teased Nasa. So I don’t know why in this current chapter, Hata-sensei felt the need to do a dream sequence showing Himari without eyes. And so just like Hayate the Combat Butler, there’s a child, female character from the past who drove our male MC to be the man he is today.

At least in Hayate the Combat Butler, the Athena character came up several times before her formal introduction. As such, it was clear that then then unnamed Athena influenced Hayate. However with Nasa, there is no buildup, thus the Himari character feels like a forced entry to generate a love triangle. Only this time, no one will say Himari is the best girl for Nasa. Many folks did say that about Athena and Hayate, which Hata-sensei spent years trying to squash.

Final Thoughts and Conclusion

In the end, I found most of Tonikaku Cawaii Chapter 225 to be the usual fun you’d expect when Aya, Kaname, and Tsukasa get together. And there’s even some married couple stuff toward the end. However, I can’t say I’m jazzed about the introduction of Himari as a character.
